Notice Regarding Suspension of Service in Response to COVID-19

Beloved ones,
God’s messengers always seemed to preface good news with the exclamation, “Be not afraid!”. So friends, do not be afraid but please join me in the new adventure of being Christ’s body in these uncertain and unsettling times.

New Hope’s session met last night and decided that in an abundance of caution and care for our congregation and wider community, we would follow current recommendations to curtail public meetings by cancelling all in person worship and church meetings (Bible study, choir, etc) through at least the end of March. At that time the session will review extending that decision. For now the session will meet electronically.

We plan to make broadcasts of some sort available via Facebook Live, and Google Hangouts as well, that would reach even our members who do not have Facebook or computers. I will be doing a trial run of communicating with you via Facebook live tomorrow morning with information, prayer, and scripture. A more complete worship service experience should be available starting March 22nd. More information on this will follow.

We are in the process of forming care teams for each of our Stephen Ministers to be in regular contact with you. You will receive more information about that soon.
A group email will follow soon as well as information via snail mail.

It is vitally important to the work of our church that giving continue. You may mail your pledge/tithes/offerings to New Hope Presbyterian Church 4142 Weems Rd. Columbus, GA 31909 with checks made out to either All Saints or Morningside. PayPal information will be sent out soon. Salaries, bills, insurance, etc all must continue to be paid.

I am available by phone and email for pastoral care and practical problem solving. Brenda will be in the church office 9-12 Tues-Thurs.

Let us be creative. Let us be resilient. Let us be the community of love and caring God created us to be in this particular time and place. Reach out to each other. Share your anxieties as well as your encouragement. Let us turn to God, our very present help in trouble.

Love and peace to you all,
Colleen (Rev. Colleen Cook)
