Our History

New Hope Presbyterian Church is a Presbyterian church resulting from the merger of two PC(USA) (Presbyterian Church of the United States of America) churches in the Columbus area, Morningside, and All Saints.  Morningside, located at 4142 Weems Road at the corner of Moon Road, was formed in the 1950s.  All Saints, on Beaver Run Road in Midland, was formed in the 80s.  Over the years, there had been discussions of a merger, but those discussions did not go anywhere.  But early in 2019, because of an offer that was made for the All-Saints church property, the two churches embarked on a period of discernment to see if they might have a future together.  And they discovered they could….and both congregations have embraced their fusion into one congregation.

The two churches started worshipping together in December of 2019, and in the fall of 2020, New Hope Presbyterian Church was incorporated, and the two former churches have since been dissolved.  The All-Saints property has been sold and New Hope operates at the former Morningside location on Weems Road.

More Light Presbyterians

Following the risen Christ, and seeking to make the Church a true community of hospitality, the mission of More Light Presbyterians is to work for the full participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people in the life, ministry, and witness of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and in society. MLP’s logo reflects our mission and incorporates the communion elements of bread and wine, as well as rainbow colors evocative of stained glass church windows. These elements express the hospitality of Christ, and of the welcoming church movement, and the theology and practice of the open table. We are called together as many grains that form one bread. We share one cup.

We currently have six trained Stephen Ministers including three Stephen Leaders in our congregation.  All personal discussions with a Stephen Minister are confidential and shared with no one.  For more information or to request a Stephen Minister please contact us via e-mail.
