Our Mission

New Hope and its predecessor churches have been involved in several mission projects and activities in recent years.  While our current “hands on” mission activities are somewhat curtailed by the pandemic, these are some of our mission and outreach activities currently or in the recent past.

  • Red Cross blood drives

    • Over the past year we have hosted several Red Cross blood drives in our fellowship hall building.

  • Abbey Fellowship campus ministry

    • An outreach of Flint River Presbytery, New Hope is one of several Columbus area PCUSA churches that provides funding and in-kind assistance to this campus ministry located on 1st Avenue downtown, serving Columbus State University students

  • Damascus Way shelter for women and children

    • Part of Valley Rescue, this facility in midtown provides temporary living facilities for women and their children who might otherwise be homeless; and longer-term living facilities and counseling to women seeking to overcome addictions. New Hope has provided funding, social activities, and hands-on upgrades to living facilities on their property.

  • Pride events

    • New Hope has participated in Gay Pride events in Columbus in support for the LGBTQ community

  • Craft Fairs

    • New Hope has hosted craft fairs that offered inexpensive craft booths to local entrepreneurs, along with food and other festivities.

  • Mission trips to Guatemala

    • Many members of New Hope have participated in mission trips to Guatemala in conjunction with Flint River Presbytery’s partnership with the women’s organization of the national Guatemala Presbyterian church

  • Spanish Service

    • In 2022 New Hope embarked on a Spanish language service to support families stationed at Fort Moore for WHINSEC from central and South America. The Spanish service is every Sunday at 1:30.
